The Technique![]() Paper lace is cut with a sharp craft knife, working on either a soft cutting board, or the cardboard from the back of a pad of paper. While traditional papercutting uses a slicing motion and is worked on a hard surface such as glass, paper lace is done with a chopping motion on a soft surface. Even the most intricate designs are usually made of small, geometric pieces to be cut and removed. So once you establish the pattern on the sheet of paper, you can easily count over to the next shape to cut. And if you do make a bad cut, a little white glue fixes most mistakes.
